Finalsite, an award-winning website, marketing and communications platform used by more than 5,000 schools worldwide, announced it has invested $2.5 million into the company’s hosting infrastructure which includes the move of 99 percent of its client websites to the Google Cloud Platform.
Google Cloud Platform is used by more than a billion active users; Cloud Platform infrastructure powers Google Search, Gmail, Google Maps and YouTube, with network traffic traveling on the same backbone that google.com uses globally—not over the public internet.
This investment in the security and stability of Finalsite’s platform involved significant time by the Finalsite development team performing containerization of site architecture for client websites using Google’s Kubernetes Engine.
Moving client websites to Google Cloud Platform has many benefits for schools including:
- Upgraded hosting architecture providing additional client site isolation and scalability during peak traffic periods;
- Improved security, with data encrypted at rest and in transit between Google, Finalsite, school websites using 256-bit AES encryption;
- Regional data centers on Google’s planet scale infrastructure allow schools choice and flexibility, serving websites close to their users with near zero maintenance; and
- A resilient infrastructure platform for improved stability and easy future expansion as Finalsite continues to provide new product features.
Jon Moser, Finalsite’s founder and CEO, shared, “With Google Cloud Platform, we are better able to serve our schools in 80 plus countries with unmatched security, greater scalability, and the flexibility we need to reduce risk and serve site content fast.” He continued, “And with so many hosting locations around the world, we’re ensuring that our schools’ communities will have the best website experience wherever they are.”
